Plan a Visit

The Alaska State Capitol building is a functional seat of government, where laws are passed and public policy is set for the 737,438 residents of Alaska. Visitors are welcome to explore the Capitol at their leisure, between 7:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday.

Free guided tours are available seasonally May through September. All tour groups are required to schedule their tours through the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. Tours begin at the Capitol, last one hour, and run Monday-Friday from 9:30am-10:30am, 11:00am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-2:00pm and 2:30pm-3:30pm. Sign-up sheets are located in the Capitol lobby and each tour is limited to 10 people. Schedules are subject to change so please call the Museum at 586-3572 for updates.

Self-guided tours are available year round. Simply collect a brochure in the Capitol lobby and explore at your own pace.
